Kylene

In 2017, after 8 years of living in Minnesota where she received her bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute International Minnesota, Kylene moved back to her hometown of Chehalis. A year into job searching Kylene was hired as a design consultant at Arvid’s. Kylene had known from a young age that she had a passion for design. Her earliest memory was from when she was 7 and had asked her grandpa to help build her dog a doghouse. He told her she needed to draw what she wanted and then he’d help. Little did he know, she would draw all 4 elevations complete with paint color options. Kylene worked at Arvid’s for 3 years before purchasing the store in July of 2021. She’s grateful that the previous owners trusted her enough to offer this opportunity. Her favorite thing about working at Arvid’s is the “aha” moment when a vision she and a client create together comes to life - listening to what they are envisioning and finding a physical material to compliment/match that vision.

Rick

Rick has been in the flooring industry for 20+ years. We met Rick in 2018 as a subcontractor, but in 2022 he was ready to make a career change and Arvid’s couldn’t wait to have him as our Warehouse Manager! Rick was born in Seattle, but moved to Chehalis in the 3rd grade. He has three daughters, two granddaughters and one grandson who all live locally. Rick has experience installing carpet, laminate, lvp, sheet vinyl, hardwood and vct. Since working at Arvid’s he’s become skilled in installing window treatments and binding area rugs.

•Loves being a grandpa and going to his grandchildren's activities
•Golfs as often as he can
•Is a “yes” guy

Shelby

Shelby joined our team in February of 2023 and has caught on quickly! She grew up in Tumwater, but has worked and lived everywhere from Seattle to Orange County to London. She received a degree in finance, accounting and Human Resources from PLU. Although she has an extensive tax background, Shelby has always had a love and knack for interior design - finding inspiration during all of her travels. In 2022, she made the decision to make a career change that allowed her to interact with people more and use her creative side. At Arvid’s her specialties include consulting on window treatments/draperies, bathroom tile design and new construction where she can help homeowners create a cohesiveness throughout their home.
